Vendor Reviews

Being a teacher, I grade using the following scale: A=Above Average, B=Average, C=Below Average. I never found reviews with ++++ to be very helpful!

Sardella’s (Rehearsal Dinner): A

We worked with Mark to book the courtyard for approximately 30 guests. Mark had quick communication with us throughout the process and even was able to add in dessert a day before the dinner. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We had several personal wait staff for just our party and never had to wait for a drink or anything else we might have needed. Highly Recommend.

Holiday Inn Express (Hotel Block): C

We worked with Amanda to set up our hotel block at the Middletown location. Amanda was quick to reply to emails and very helpful. She gets a B. However, the front desk staff at the hotel was rude and disrespectful. We had booked two suites for two nights for our wedding party and ourselves and when we called down to ask for extra pillows and blankets they told us to use the cushions on the couch and share blankets. When handing out my OOT boxes they passed out the wrong ones and missed half of our guests. There was another wedding block there that weekend but my boxes were labeled clearly with our names and they had a list of the guests in my hotel room block. When I went down to the front office to ask them about why my guests weren’t receiving the OOT boxes the staff member rolled her eyes at me and said she was busy. Do Not Recommend.

Glen Manor House (Ceremony & Reception): A

We worked with Katie and Don throughout the past year and I have nothing but love for them both! Katie is quick to reply to emails and phone calls and is super organized. She walked us through the ceremony rehearsal and took detailed notes to make sure she had everything correct. On the day of, she was there to line us up and see that guests were seated properly and timely. She kept all of us on time and with a smile and gentle words. Her husband Don took over half way through the reception and was equally as sweet and helpful. The grounds of the Glen are breathtaking and Don takes care of every plant and flower. We splurged on the Glen and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Highly Recommend.

David Bibeault Photography: A (Pending Photos)

Dave has been such a blast to work with this past year. We did our engagement photos at Fenway Park and he took thousands of photos of us over a 2-hour period. He responds quickly to email and is very helpful in the planning process. The day of the wedding he brought two assistants with him; Ethan and Nick. They were both extremely fun and professional and were a blast to be around. Dave was flexible and took my crazy ideas and ran with them. He made sure I had water and stood in the shade as much as possible. He really took care of us! I am in love with the teaser photos he has sent us and I have all the faith in the world that our album is going to be amazing.  Highly Recommend.

Wedding Stories Videography: A (Pending Video)

John is an absolute professional and responds quickly to email and phone calls. He is organized and helpful and such fun to be around. On our wedding day he brought his assistant with him who was also hilarious and fun. I forget his name but I know it will come back to me! John was so easy to be around and I never even knew he was taking video of us. He stayed longer than our contract because he said our reception was too fun to leave! I can’t wait to see the video! Highly Recommend.

Reverends Charles & Cheryl Cavalconte: A

Charlie and Cheryl are such an adorable and quirky couple. We met with them twice to create our ceremony and vows. They are super helpful and give you a book that they authored themselves to help you create your wedding ceremony. They are totally fun and in love and it shines through on your big day. Our guests loved them and they kept us calm on the big day. It was so special to have an entire ceremony that we wrote ourselves. Our guests can’t stop talking about how personal and moving it was! Highly Recommend.

Russ Morin Fine Catering: A

We worked with Ashley throughout the past year and have had an amazing ride! Ashley is quick to respond to emails and phone calls and keeps you organized and up to date on what needs to be done. Our tasting was fantastic and they even rushed in special linens just so we could see them while our parents were in town. Ashley set up every last detail for me so all I had to do was show up on the big day. Everything was perfectly in place and she handled all of the vendors and set up and break down. She is an amazing planner and day of coordinator! All of our guests loved the food and were completely impressed by the service and professionalism. Our signature cocktails the Carpentini were a huge hit as well as the passed desserts like cheesecake lollipops, strawberry shortcake shooters and vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate chip cookies also wowed everyone. They are definitely expensive but worth every cent! Highly Recommend.

Victor from Party Time: A

Oh Victor, I love him! He is organized beyond belief and responds quickly to email and phone calls. He is the life of the party! He is very detail oriented and played all of our favorite songs and read the crowd extremely well. He mixes his own songs and does the MC as well. He literally kept the ballroom of the Glen PACKED all night. It was insane! Everyone from my Gram to my little cousins were dancing nonstop. He did our monogram gobo light that I loved and all of the mics for the ceremony. He is such a professional but so much fun! He even spun me around the dance floor and let me mix a few beats! I can’t say enough glowing things about him. He is probably my favorite vendor and one of my favorite people. Highly Recommend.

Golden Gate Florist: A

We worked with Jay and Melissa over the past year. I changed and changed and changed my mind on my flowers. Jay was MORE than flexible on redoing my proposal a million times. He is creative and fun and told me exactly what would work and what wouldn’t. The day of they put down roses petals for my ceremony aisle and stayed to rake them up per Glen’s rules. They switched out my kissing balls from the ceremony to the reception without anyone noticing. The centerpieces were out of this world. Ostrich feathers and hanging crystals! Love! Jay is hard to reach via email but responds quickly to phone calls. Highly Recommend.

Krystal Treanor (Make-Up): B

Krystal is a bit pricey but is very professional and tells you honestly what will work on your face and what won’t. She also gives you a little touch up kit to bring with you, which was a very nice touch. I found her to be a bit dry humored which I didn’t really click with but overall she was exactly as I had read about before. My make up stayed on all-night and photographed well.  Recommend.

Sam C (Hair): B

Sam is actually a second grade teacher who also runs a dance studio and does hair on the side. She is very busy and can only be reached by her dance email and personal cell phone number. She is very flexible and fun to be around. We chatted about Vampire Diaries and Glee. I have to say I was a bit disappointed in my hair on the day of my wedding. I had two trials with Sam and disliked my first trial but LOVED my second. My hair didn’t stay in all night and was a bit slicked back and not quite what I wanted. I would suggest bringing pictures from your trial with you so that she has those to go by. I wish I had done that. She is very affordable and personable. Recommend.

Party Booths: B

I booked this company based on online reviews and their prices. They showed up on time, set everything up in a timely manner and kept the booth packed and clean all night. They were friendly and professional. There were two assistants that came with the booth. The only problem I had was that I never knew the exact names and phone numbers of the attendants before my big day. I was emailing the central location, which is in Las Vegas, and they kept saying it would be a “regional rep” but never gave me exact info. I was a bit sketched out but everything worked out in the end and it was the HIT of the night. Hilarious photos! Recommend.

Blush Design Studios (Invitations, rehearsal dinner invites, menus): A

Oh Liz, I heart this girl. She is beyond talented and super creative. She is easy to reach via email and phone and bends over backwards for all of her customers. She loves what she does and puts her heart and soul into every piece. I must have changed my mind a million times on her and she greeted me each time with a smile and great new ideas. My guests raved about my wedding invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations and my menus. All beautiful, gorgeous letterpress J Highly Recommend.

Rockstar Limo (Trolley): B

We worked with Meaghan over the past year and were pleased with the company and her. She was easy to reach via email and gave us lots of information and price lists. The trolley was on time and clean. The trolley driver was personable and professionally dressed. Recommend.

Priscilla’s of Boston: C

We worked with April and absolutely loved her. She helped me to find the dress of my dreams. We bought “Nora” during a trunk show and saved 10%. We were treated kindly all throughout the buying process. About 6 months before my wedding I received a rude phone call from POB informing me that I needed to come pick up my dress immediately or it would be shipped to me for a $300 charge. Apparently they needed space in their holding room. However our contract stated that they would hold on to the dress throughout alterations etc. I went and picked up the dress to avoid the large shipping costs and wrote a letter explaining my disapproval to the manager. She called me personally and apologized and offered me free alterations. I was pleased with the apology and accepted the offer. Throughout the alteration process we were treated awfully and my dress was a mess. There were large seams that did not match up and it was taken out too much and then in too much and then there somehow was not enough fabric to fix the errors. Two weeks before my wedding, my dress was a disaster and I had to go and buy a new one. In the end, POB did tweak my dress but I did not wear it on my wedding day. It just wasn’t right. We spent over $2,000 on that dress and my alterations would have been another $900 if I hadn’t wrote that letter. I am extremely disappointed in POB and would NOT have my alterations done there. I did enjoy the buying process but found everything else to be awful. Do Not Recommend.

Ana’s Bridal: A

Ana saved me! I walked in two weeks before my wedding with a limited budget and she was an angel. She opened the store just for me and told me I could have a pick of hundreds of dresses for a greatly decreased price. She did my alterations for free and had the dress in perfect condition for my wedding day. Highly Recommend.

Carl Anthony Tuxedo: A

We worked with Dan and he was absolutely wonderful. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable and friendly. All of the tuxes were perfect and the guys looked great. Wonderful customer service and great quality. Highly Recommend.

Stringscalm: A

We found Stringscalm on Gigmasters and absolutely fell in love with them. We wanted a string trio for our ceremony but didn’t think we could afford one. Angie was the absolute best at communication with email and phone calls. She kept me organized and even tweaked several songs to make them work for a trio. She was able to perform all of the quirky songs we wanted from the Beatles to Journey. Angie is an absolute doll and they sounded terrific on our big day. Highly Recommend.

Corby’s Cakes & Cookies (Groom’s Cake): B

I worked with Shemry to design a groom’s cake for the Hubs. I wanted a Bruins hockey puck, a Patriot’s football and a Red Sox baseball all stacked on top of each other. She gave me a great price and was very sweet. When I saw the actual cake I was a bit disappointed. It was much smaller than we talked about and one layer was actually foam and not cake as we had planned. The Hubs said it tasted delicious. I wasn’t that impressed with the logos from the sports teams. It did arrive on time and served its purpose. It was a great price and she was easy to work with. Recommend.

Star Nails (Middletown): B

I took my bridal party, readers and Moms to Star Nails for a Spa Day after our ceremony rehearsal and before dinner. They were very affordable and the salon was clean and sanitized. I did feel as if they rushed us through and several of my girls weren’t too pleased with the designs painted on their toes. I found it to serve its purpose but wasn’t quite the relaxing day I had planned. I did make a reservation a month in advance but it didn’t seem to help. Recommend.
